i’m a sucker for some visual novel games

So lately (by which I mean for the past two years or so) I’ve been really into these dumb/amazing games called Ace Attorney, which are essentially visual novel-type games in which you play as, yes, an attorney. I know, sounds totally stupid. I can assure you that it absolutely is, and bears only the slightest of resemblances to the actual system of law in America. However, while stupid, these games are also ridiculously charming. The characters are adorable, the plots, while convoluted and unbelievable, are fun to watch unfold (in the way watching soap operas is a guilty pleasure kind of fun). Regardless, I enjoy them. But hey, enough of this crap, I’m not getting paid by Capcom to write an advertisement for their games.

Anyway, I recently finished the fourth Ace Attorney game and started the fifth, hence why I’ve had fictional lawyers on the brain so much. It also happens to be mock trial season, and many of my friends have sold their souls to the practice of pretending to hold court, which frequently results in some pretty funny quotes. Naturally, they’ve compiled a list of some of their greatest hits, and I, being the living, breathing trash can that I am, got my grubby mitts on it and instantly turned it into Ace Attorney fanart. So here we have the fruit of my labors, a very short comic!

Thanks to the mock trial team who provided me with such brilliant material (you know who you are). And for those of you following my blog (again, all five or six of you who are morally obligated solely because we’re in a journalism class together), expect to see more of this stupid lawyer crap. I draw it A LOT.

sharpies are my best friends

Hey guys! Here’s a brief look at the latest project I’m working on for my IB art class. I’m taking an old book (graciously given to me by the Adams library, which was getting rid of some books), selecting a phrase that speaks to me, and creating an image around that phrase, which then doubles as the title of the piece. It’s also pretty cool because it combines the idea of blackout poetry with artwork, two things of which I am very fond. Plus how often do you get to draw in a book, am I right?? Can’t pass up on the opportunity. The only materials I’ve used for this project are a fine-tipped sharpie, a regular sharpie, and an old book. It me

Hey guys! Had to post something to start out with.

I’m Aubren, the face behind the blog. I made this as an assignment for my journalism class, but it’ll be fun to see if I continue with it. Regardless, I’ve never had a blog before aside from a short-lived stint on Tumblr a couple years ago, which doesn’t really count because I hardly ever posted original content.

Anyway, my blog is mostly going to be dedicated to the art things I make. My style tends to lean more towards cartoon-y, but I sometimes dabble in realism (mostly for my art class). I work with both traditional and digital media, and have recently started messing around with animation, so you can expect a little bit of that in the future! I also plan on featuring some of my incredibly talented artist friends in some of my posts, provided they actually follow through with their promise to follow my dumb blog (y’all know who you are).

I can already feel future me cringing at this, honestly. Oh well.

I’ll try to post at least once a week, but no promises. Here’s to the uncertain future of my blog! Hope you enjoy.
